The Art Appreciation group at the moment does not have fixed days or dates when it meets but in the winter months we meet in the Lower Holker Village Hall supper room which is on the first floor ( LHVH is actually in Cark in Cartmel ) from 14:30 to 16:30.
We mainly visit art galleries : near and far or Romney society talks and go to Beetham Heron Theatre to see Exhibition on Screen films with a discussion afterwards either at Beetham Nurseries ( summer ) or the Hare and Hounds in Levens from November to March . The group tries to use public transport as much as possible but we have hired a minibus to go to more inaccessible places.
The group has evolved since it started in 2019 and is open to new ways of seeing and learning about Art in all its forms. Members are invited to do presentations of their choice or to suggest visits or other activities with the view to helping organise our monthly sessions. There will be a planning meeting in the summer months where members will have the opportunity to get involved in the group in the spirit of U3a.
There are lots of resources available on TV & IPlayer ( Sky Arts, Fake or Fortune or Lost Masterpieces ) and Youtube . Wikipedia is a good starting point. If PC facilities are available in Grange library.
If interested in the group, please contact Rose Clark using the Group Coordinator name link above.
