The Group chooses and follows an historical theme which changes approximately annually. Each member chooses a topic relating to that theme and prepares a talk to give to the group. We then follow that up with a discussion (over a cuppa) which can branch out into other related matters. We meet in a people's houses on the first Thursday of each month at 2.00 pm. Subjects can be drawn from any time in history to a person, event or other topic.
The Group moved on to a new theme of Local History in June. This includes areas not too far away from Grange covering Cumbria, Lancaster and adjacent parts of Yorkshire. We started our meetings again in September with a presentation about the village of Preston Patrick (to the south of Kendal) which has a long history and many historic buildings including 27 structures that are listed.
