The High Fell Walking Group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month covering distances from 6 to 10 miles walking at altitude in the Cumbrian Fells, Western Pennines, and Wainwright’s Outlying Fells. The Low Level Walking Group meets on the 4th Monday of every month, walking a mix of lower-lying fells and undulating countryside in south Cumbria and north Lancashire (distances usually of 5 to 8 miles).
The annual programme is produced in December. Walks are led by members of the group experienced at fell walking. There is a link to the latest programme below. We do walk in foul weather but only if it is safe to do so, but it is unlikely we will venture onto the fells if there are Met Office Weather Alerts for our region.
Group members should register their interest to join a walk by contacting the walk leader as published in the programme or by contacting the Co-ordinator Andrew Musgrave by e-mail using the Group Co-ordinator link above. This way members can be contacted if the walk has to be cancelled for any reason.
All u3a members are welcome to join the walking group provided they contact the Co-ordinator first and are properly equipped.
